Current Job Openings (We farm year -round)

Vegetable Production Manager Needed
Year Round production, but seasonal positions are available
East of DC, south of Annapolis
Small and (slowly expanding) CSA
Ongoing permaculture installation
Farm based kitchen in the works
Mix of working alone, managing small crew and volunteers, and leading adult and
youth classes
As a leader and teacher, must be kind, effective and inspiring
Required to lift heavy objects, sometimes stay late until job is done, and
work occasional weekends
Temp housing possible

Field crew-

Seasonal field crew come and go here, bringing different experiences and heading in various directions when done, with an expanded knowledge of organic food production. We look at resumes and applications (link) on a rolling basis for field hands.

At this time we really need a part time person who thinks weedwacking and mowing is great fun!

 

Ivy Brand CSA

Our production garden is located on a 120 acre waterfront family farm. It includes external, permanent raised beds, over 10,000 sq unheated hoop houses, 60x30 propagation house, packing room, office, large commons, pier, pastured chickens, garlic and small cover crops are in for the winter.

The farm is also home to pastured beef, bees, extensive wetlands and is adjacent to a 3,000 acre environmental research center. We are located 30 min east of Washington D.C.

Ivy Brand has a great staff including caretaker, CSA packer, office support. The family chips in and a few awesome college students come and go as schedules allow.

Volunteers and
Working Members

Working members get vegetables (pick your own).

Our needs and schedule:
Sunday- Garden help
Monday- Harvest (starts May 20)
Tuesday- Office help (experience and references required); Box packing assistance (indoors, can be done sitting)
Wednesday- Help coordinate school visits (non-profit set-up, grant writing, management and teaching needed)
Thursday- Ongoing harvest
Friday- Box packing assistance (indoors, can be done sitting)

TBA- Event coordination team

*Monday and Thursday harvest helpers can come as available, all other days must be scheduled in advance.

You will need: Sun-block, sturdy shoes or boots, hat, gloves, water bottle. If raining, we still work, some indoors garden work available, bring rain gear and a change of clothes.
